About hey dee ho educational'services

hey dee ho Music For Tinies was born in 1987 on the Mornington Peninsula in Melbourne and has now grown into a successful franchise business with franchised areas across Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Perth, Gold Coast and Adelaide. Current director, Jenny Wilkinson, has owned the business since 1996 and with the combined assistance of franchisees and presenters, has transformed hey dee ho into a multi-faceted company with programs catering to children from six months through to age 12.

All hey dee ho activities are constantly evolving to meet the demands of children, parents and early learning centres. In 2006, The Australian Institute of Music and Childhood development was set up as the training and research arm of hey dee ho.

2007 saw the introduction of new programs under the hey dee ho banner: Active 8 (fitness and sports skills), Fun-Key Yoga (energetic yoga for kids), Fiction Factory (drama and literacy program) and Sing and Sign (Music and Auslan signing).

Yes. Children learn a lot by copying others' actions. Children love to watch their loved ones participating and if they see you joining in and having fun then they will have fun too.
Your child will be given an activity book when you enroll that they can bring every week to be stamped. Everything else is provided for you at the session. At different times during the term we run sessions when you might be asked to bring your child dressed up or with their teddy bear or some other toy. Your presenter will give you plenty of notice when these sessions are going to occur.
We hold sessions for children as young as 4 months. Children respond to the music even if they aren't capable of standing up or dancing. It's never too early to start exposing your child to the wonderful world of music, rhythm, pitch, rhymes and melodies. All interaction helps with your baby's development and all babies grow into toddlers who love the program.
hey dee ho Educational Services does not ask parents to contribute separately for insurance. We run all classes on a term basis so we can confirm exact numbers for our insurance company. All prices quoted are for a 10 week term. A "trial" session price is listed also for new families. This fee will be deducted from your term fee when you enroll.

  • Thank you for helping us to provide such a great music and movement program for the children at our centre. Since Melissa has been visiting our centre on a weekly basis we have had very positive feedback from the children, staff and families. The children all enjoy the program; the music, the props and the experiences all contribute to providing an interesting and engaging activity.

  • Dear Dot, I have not met you but I feel I know you and I cannot thank you enough for the positive impact you have on our little and treasured Georgia. She absolutely adores you, talks about you, she imitates you. She looks forward to Friday so much. I wonder some days when you are going to work, how much you realise that what you do, who you are and the way you respond to the children can have such an impact.

  • Jodie Field began music sessions at the Bendigo Special Developmental School following a recommendation of a staff member who had taken her child to a birthday party where Jodie's hey dee ho music was a feature of the party. The Bendigo Special Developmental School is a Special School which caters for students aged from 5 to 18, who have a moderate to severe intellectual disability.

  • Hey dee ho music has been running a weekly program for our 3 year old prekinders and our 4 year old kinder children all this year. This has become a highlight of the 3-5s and is a program I can highly recommend. From a Director's standpoint I find the program educational, stimulating, captivating, age appropriate and run to a standard of excellence.

Music Is Brain Gym

Key findings on infant and early childhood brain development.

When current brain research is condensed, what emerges are simple, easy to understand findings that for the most part, reinforce what we know intuitively.

Brain development is reliant upon interplay between genes and environment. There is no longer the debate whether our learning is more dependant on nature or nurture. Research indicates that nature lays down a complex system of brain circuitry, but how that circuitry is wired is dependant on external forces such as nutrition, surroundings and stimulation.
